Nikon D4 – Nikkor 24-70mm. – f:8.0 – ISO 200 – Profoto B1 de 500W<\/p><\/div>\n

Hace unos a\u00f1os me ocurri\u00f3 un episodio que todav\u00eda recuerdo en alguna pesadilla. Ocurri\u00f3 en una sesi\u00f3n de fotos que estaba haciendo para una revista de coches, en concreto est\u00e1bamos probando el nuevo Porsche Boxster RS 60 Spyder y para ello le ped\u00ed ayuda a un buen amigo, al menos hasta ese d\u00eda, para que me llevase de copiloto en su flamante descapotable. La idea era simple pues solo ten\u00edamos que hacer las fotos en la t\u00edpica carretera de curvas a una velocidad prudente. Cuando llegamos al sitio previsto me quit\u00e9 el cintur\u00f3n (primer error) y me situ\u00e9 sentado hacia atr\u00e1s con mi c\u00e1mara disparando fotos en movimiento a ese precioso coche. En esos momentos recuerdo que iba totalmente concentrado en los fondos, el coche etc. pero de repente y sin saber porqu\u00e9, mi amigo decidi\u00f3 dar un aceler\u00f3n en plena curva, todav\u00eda no se si para demostrar lo buen piloto que era o si realmente quiso verme volar por los aires, cosa que por cierto consigui\u00f3. El susto fue tal que por un momento vi el precipicio de la carretera como mi \u00faltima foto y es que todo pas\u00f3 tan deprisa que decididamente esa forma de conseguir fotos la descart\u00e9 para siempre pues pertenezco a esa especie de fot\u00f3grafos que consideran m\u00e1s importantes aspectos de la vida que una foto por muy buena que sea.<\/p>\n

Todo esto me llev\u00f3 a ver otras formas de realizar esas sesiones con movimiento de una manera segura y a medida que la tecnolog\u00eda avanza me gusta probar si resulta eficaz para mi trabajo pues tampoco soy fot\u00f3grafo que le guste presumir de estar anclado en el pasado, creo que cada tiempo tiene su belleza y soy consciente que los tiempos pasados a veces los recordamos con m\u00e1s glamour del que realmente ten\u00edan, pero dejemos estos pensamientos y vamos al l\u00edo.<\/p>\n

Tras esta introducci\u00f3n, hoy quiero hablar de los sistemas que permiten hacer volar \u00f3rdenes, hacer volar datos y ello sin hacernos volar a nosotros, me estoy refiriendo a los sistemas inal\u00e1mbricos conocidos como tethering, wireless, etc.<\/p>\n

El primer sistema que comenc\u00e9 a utilizar fue el t\u00edpico disparador remoto para evitar la famosa trepidaci\u00f3n en fotos con larga exposici\u00f3n. Tambi\u00e9n ven\u00eda bien en autorretratos, lo hoy tan de moda conocidos selfies que parecen haber inventado algo al darle ese nombre.<\/p>\n

M\u00e1s adelante sustitu\u00ed los dichosos cables del estudio que iban de la c\u00e1mara a los cabezales de flashes por disparadores remotos, todo un lujo no volver a tropezar con los malditos cables.<\/p>\n

Adem\u00e1s se pod\u00edan combinar los sistemas, todo un detalle por pate de los fabricantes, es m\u00e1s mis \u00faltimos disparadores de la marca Pocket Wizard son capaces de disparar c\u00e1mara y flashes.<\/p>\n

Pero a medida que la tecnolog\u00eda avanza, los fabricantes tienden a integrar los sistemas inal\u00e1mbricos como es el caso del sistema de iluminaci\u00f3n Profoto<\/a>, un cabezal de flash v\u00e1lido para estudio e incluso para campo pues lleva hasta bater\u00edas recargables para trabajar en lugares donde no hay corriente el\u00e9ctrica pero adem\u00e1s lleva integrado el sistema para trabajar de manera remota sin cables. Si a eso le sumamos su potencia y velocidad de recarga, este sistema es en mi opini\u00f3n de lo mejor ideado para la fotograf\u00eda. Tanto es as\u00ed que muy pronto dedicar\u00e9 una entrada especifica para este sistema y es que precisamente este mes sale al mercado con TTL incluido para Nikon.<\/p>\n

Por otra parte los fabricantes de c\u00e1maras tambi\u00e9n han hecho un esfuerzo en aplicar tecnolog\u00edas WI-FI a las nuevas c\u00e1maras que van apareciendo en el mercado. Esta tecnolog\u00eda nos permite por ejemplo realizar disparos de nuestra c\u00e1mara de manera remota con un ordenador, un tablet o un tel\u00e9fono y con la ventaja de poder ver la escena encuadre etc. en las pantallas de esos dispositivos. Permite tambi\u00e9n realizar cambios remotos en nuestra c\u00e1mara como cambiar el lugar de enfoque, cambiar la sensibilidad, la menara de medici\u00f3n y un largo etc. de posibilidades e incluso enviar \u201cvolando\u201d las im\u00e1genes captadas a otro dispositivo pero ojo no es oro todo lo que reluce pues a veces surgen peque\u00f1os retrasos en la visi\u00f3n inal\u00e1mbrica, tambi\u00e9n peque\u00f1os retrasos en el disparo m\u00e1s el tiempo que hay entre disparos. Pero me parece interesante que os cuente cu\u00e1l ha sido mi experiencia en estos sistemas WI-FI.<\/p>\n

La primera prueba la realic\u00e9 con una c\u00e1mara Sony A7R y un tel\u00e9fono (hay APPs para Android y Apple). Este sistema basado en el programa Play Memories de Sony est\u00e1 un poco lejos de las necesidades de un profesional pues apenas se pueden realizar iteraciones remotas y adem\u00e1s en cuanto te alejas unos metros la se\u00f1al WI-FI deja de funcionar y por ende todo el sistema.<\/p>\n

M\u00e1s profesional me ha resultado el sistema de la Nikon D4 ya que conectando un sistema WI-FI en la conexi\u00f3n Ethernet, podemos acceder a trav\u00e9s de un navegador a un programa que lleva la propia c\u00e1mara. Este programa permite desde un amplio manejo de manera remota de nuestra c\u00e1mara, hasta solo ver y transmitir las im\u00e1genes tomadas a un ordenador o Ipad. Creo que llegado a este punto, es posible que tambi\u00e9n resulte interesante ver como y cuales son las opciones para disponer este sistema en nuestra c\u00e1mara y es por ello que tambi\u00e9n creo conveniente hacer otra entrada para hablar exclusivamente de este sistema y de c\u00f3mo implementarlo.<\/p>\n

Ambos sistemas permiten enviar una imagen en tama\u00f1o JPG a un dispositivo y esto que parece tener poca importancia a veces se puede rentabilizar mucho m\u00e1s de lo que pensamos. Imaginemos que estamos haciendo una sesi\u00f3n con unas directrices marcadas por los del pelo verde, me refiero a esos modernos artistas de la creatividad. Pues bien si no est\u00e1n en el estudio tiene sus ventajas pero tambi\u00e9n es importante que vayan dando su ok al trabajo que estamos realizando y si est\u00e1n al otro lado del mundo, podr\u00e1n ver en tiempo real esas im\u00e1genes con el \u00fanico inconveniente de la diferencia horaria. Esta idea seguro que a tu cliente le va a gustar adem\u00e1s de dar una imagen muy profesional. Por cierto que esta idea no es m\u00eda ya que la primera vez que me ofrecieron esta posibilidad fue con mi respaldo Phase One y un programa que funcionaba con Capture One.<\/p>\n

Tambi\u00e9n es cierto que en el caso de Sony los programas para WI-FI son gratuitos y seg\u00fan me han comentado est\u00e1n haciendo programas m\u00e1s potentes. Respecto a Nikon es de agradecer el sistema que trae en la c\u00e1mara si bien estar\u00eda mejor que el programa que tienen para control remoto estuviese incluido en la compra de c\u00e1maras cercanas o que superan los 6.000 euros pero como siempre pasa en las empresas grandes suelen mandar los reyes del marketing aunque se est\u00e9n equivocados.<\/p>\n

Con las experiencias relatadas, decid\u00ed hacer una sesi\u00f3n con el sistema remoto Nikon y una unidad Profoto B1<\/a> de 500W. Lo primero que hice fueron unas pruebas en parado para calcular \u00f3pticas necesarias as\u00ed como potencia del flash. Ya con los resultados m\u00e1s o menos claros y con todo instalado en un remolque porta bicicletas pero perfectamente anclado a un sistema Manfrotto y as\u00ed poder hacer disparos de manera c\u00f3moda desde el puesto de copiloto con un Ipad y el cintur\u00f3n de seguridad correctamente colocado e incluso con una mano libre para tomar un caf\u00e9 o un trago de agua.<\/p>\n

Despu\u00e9s de resolver algunos imprevistos a la hora de la instalaci\u00f3n como que el porta bicicletas ten\u00eda una peque\u00f1a holgura producida entre la bola del remolque y la pieza que engancha el porta bicicletas. Esa peque\u00f1a holgura se podr\u00eda traducir en fotos movidas y no en movimiento que era lo que necesit\u00e1bamos. Con alguna correa tensionando por aqu\u00ed y otra tensionando por all\u00ed, conseguimos reducir casi a cero esas holguras y realizamos un peque\u00f1o recorrido con resultados de momento satisfactorios pero que estoy seguro llegar\u00e1n a ser mejorados y as\u00ed conseguir lo que busco, un sistema seguro y c\u00f3modo para el fot\u00f3grafo capaz de obtener excelentes im\u00e1genes sin poner en peligro nuestra integridad ni la del equipo y sin tener que enfadarse con ese amigo que quiso verte volar en sentido literal atentando contra tu seguridad.<\/p>\n

Fly without flying<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

A few years ago I happened to still remember an episode in some nightmare. It happened in a photo shoot she was doing for a car magazine, specifically we were testing the new Porsche Boxster RS 60 Spyder and so we asked for help from a good friend, at least until that day, to take me to copilot his new \u00a0convertible. The idea was simple, it only had to do the photos in the typical curved road at a safe speed. When we got to the intended site took off my belt (first mistake) and stood sitting back with my camera shooting moving pictures that precious car. In those moments I remember was totally focused on the funds, the car etc. but suddenly and without knowing why, my friend decided to take a spurt in the turn, if not yet to prove how good pilot was or if he really wanted to see me fly through the air, which of course got. The shock was such that for a moment I saw the precipice of the road as my last picture and it all happened so fast that definitely that way to get photos the dismissed forever since I belong to that kind of photographers who consider the most important aspect of the life that a picture good it is.<\/span><\/p>\n

All this led me to other ways to make these sessions moving safely and as technology advances like to try if it is effective for my work because I am not photographer who likes boast of being stuck in the past, I think each time has its beauty and am aware that the past sometimes remember more glamorous than it actually had, but let these thoughts and go to the mess.<\/span><\/p>\n

After this introduction, today I want to talk about the systems that let you fly orders, data and blow it blow us without us, I am referring to wireless systems known as tethering, wireless, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

The first system was started using the typical remote release to avoid camera shake in the famous photos with long exposure. It also came well in self-portraits, so fashionable today as selfies known who seem to have invented something to give it that name.<\/span><\/p>\n

Later I replaced the happy studio cables going from the camera flashes heads by remote triggers, a luxury not to trip over the cables cursed.<\/span><\/p>\n

But as technology advances, manufacturers tend to integrate wireless systems such as B1 system Profoto 500W, a head study valid for flash and even field thus leads to rechargeable batteries to work in places where there is no power but also has an integrated system to work remotely without wires. If we add the power and reload speed, this system is in my opinion the best designed for photography. Moreover the camera manufacturers have also made an effort to apply WI-FI technologies to new cameras that are appearing on the market. The first test conducted with a Sony A7R and a telephone (there APPs for Android and Apple). This based on Sony Play Memories program system is a bit far from the needs of a professional just because you can perform remote iterations and also as you walk away a few feet the WI-FI signal goes down and therefore the whole system.<\/span><\/p>\n

I have been more professional system of the Nikon D4 as connecting a WI-FI system on the Ethernet connection, we can access through a browser to a program which carries the camera. This program allows from an extensive remote management of our camera, to just view and transmit images to a computer taken or Ipad. I think at this point, you may also be interesting to see how and what are the options to have this system in our camera and that is why I also do another entry convenient to talk exclusively with this system and how to implement it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both systems allow you to send an image in JPG size to a device and this seems to have little importance can sometimes be much more profitable than we think. Suppose you are doing a session with the guidelines set by the green hair, I mean those modern artists creativity. With the reported experiences, I decided to do a session with the remote system Nikon and B1 Profoto 500W unit. After solving some unforeseen at the time of installation and the bike rack had produced a small clearance between the ball of the trailer and the part that engages the bike rack. That little slack could translate into blur and not moving that’s what we needed. With some belt tensioning here and another stressing about, we reduce to almost zero these clearances and did a small tour with satisfactory results now but I’m sure will become improved and well get what I want, a safe and convenient system photographer able to get great images without compromising our integrity or team without getting bogged down that friend who wanted to see you fly literally attacking your safety.<\/span><\/p>\n
