Hace unos d\u00edas se celebr\u00f3 en Madrid uno de los espect\u00e1culos m\u00e1s sorprendentes, me refiero a la Red Bull X-Fighters Madrid. Bajo un entorno lleno de historia, los participantes realizan saltos incre\u00edbles y a medida que se desarrolla la prueba, est\u00e1 presente el m\u00e1s dif\u00edcil todav\u00eda.<\/p>\n

Por distintos motivos, nunca hab\u00eda tenido la oportunidad de asistir ni como espectador ni como fot\u00f3grafo, hasta que justo ese mismo d\u00eda por la ma\u00f1ana, recibo una llamada para ver si es posible que realice un trabajo para una marca conocida que tambi\u00e9n patrocinaba el evento.<\/p>\n

De repente todo cambi\u00f3 mi agenda pues esa oportunidad no la pod\u00eda desaprovechar, pero, \u2026, que ten\u00eda que llevar?<\/p>\n

Evidentemente mi Nikon D4, pero me surg\u00edan dudas con las \u00f3pticas y si llevar flash, tr\u00edpode, etc. pues todo se desarrollar\u00eda a partir de las 10 de la noche. Por otra parte las temperaturas no acompa\u00f1aban para ir muy cargado debido a la dichosa ola de calor que situaba el mercurio por encima de los 40 grados.<\/p>\n

Al final opt\u00e9 por \u00abperdonar\u00bb las fotos de angulares y me llev\u00e9 el 70-200mm. y el 300mm. pues no sab\u00eda que distancia iba a necesitar. Tambi\u00e9n cargu\u00e9 con un flash SB900 y un tr\u00edpode de carbono. Craso error, pues no necesit\u00e9 ninguna de los dos y sin embargo si\u00a0hubiese cargado con\u00a0el 24-70mm. y el 14-24mm. Es lo que tiene siempre la primera vez.<\/p>\n

Aun as\u00ed centr\u00e9 mis esfuerzos en realizar las fotos que me pidieron e incluso muchas m\u00e1s para mi book de trabajo pues las im\u00e1genes se repet\u00edan una detr\u00e1s de otra.<\/p>\n

Antes del espect\u00e1culo, realic\u00e9 numerosas fotos por el padock y del ambiente, adem\u00e1s de las fotos que me hab\u00edan pedido. Sinceramente sufr\u00ed pues la focal m\u00ednima era de 70mm. pero la experiencia te ayuda y siempre se pueden encontrar soluciones, algo as\u00ed como si la monta\u00f1a no viene hacia ti pues, ve tu hacia ella aunque en este caso era todo lo contrario.<\/p>\n

Justo a la hora anunciada, comenzaba el espect\u00e1culo recordando a las Fiestas de San Ferm\u00edn pues coincid\u00edan las fechas con los famosos encierros.<\/p>\n

Cuando comenzaron los artistas de las dos ruedas a dar saltos imposibles, fue cuando pens\u00e9 en lo dif\u00edcil que iba a ser esa sesi\u00f3n, pues aparec\u00edan de repente y cada vez por un sitio, haciendo las famosas piruetas en el aire pero todo ello suced\u00eda en pocos segundos. R\u00e1pidamente cog\u00ed el \u201crollo\u201d y al menos sab\u00eda por donde iba a salir la moto y su piloto. Tambi\u00e9n me fij\u00e9 en unas enormes pantallas donde se ve\u00eda en directo cuando y por donde estaba el piloto. A partir de ah\u00ed todo fue m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil.<\/p>\n

Viendo las primeras fotos, llegu\u00e9 a varias conclusiones. La primera es que ni el flash ni el tr\u00edpode eran de ayuda si no m\u00e1s bien todo lo contrario.<\/p>\n

Tambi\u00e9n decid\u00ed cambiar el 70-200mm. por el 300mm. m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido enfocando y con una nitidez extrema. Ese cambio me hizo sufrir mucho pues el seguimiento de la moto y el piloto a veces apenas dejaba aire en la imagen pero la nitidez y ese enfoque tan r\u00e1pido no admit\u00edan dudas, tocaba hacer pesas y disparos de r\u00e1faga.<\/p>\n

Por fin me sent\u00eda a gusto, pero en esta vida nada es perfecto y la empresa que me hab\u00eda contratado, me pidi\u00f3 ese \u201cm\u00e1s dif\u00edcil todav\u00eda\u201d pues necesitaban al corredor saltando y de fondo su publicidad.<\/p>\n

Forzando un poco los ISO y en modo autom\u00e1tico, para poder cerrar diafragma y seguir con esas velocidades que me permit\u00edan justo congelar en parte la imagen, pens\u00e9 en realizar esas fotograf\u00edas\u00a0solicitadas, algo que con el sistema de r\u00e1faga, no resultaba imposible. Tan solo ten\u00eda que situarme donde previsiblemente iban a\u00a0realizar uno de los saltos con el logo de la marca situado entre el p\u00fablico. Prueba conseguida gracias a la Nikon D4 y el poder\u00edo del Nikkor 300mm. quiz\u00e1s una combinaci\u00f3n dif\u00edcil de superar.<\/p>\n

Ya en mi estudio, viendo las fotos con la persona de retoque (alg\u00fan d\u00eda l@ presentar\u00e9) el trabajo hab\u00eda quedado bien. Tan solo hab\u00eda que retocar algo el balance de blancos, algo normal pues todo el espect\u00e1culo transcurri\u00f3 entre luces y focos de distintos colores.<\/p>\n

Incluso algunos focos de contra, consiguieron enga\u00f1ar al fot\u00f3metro y eso que trabaj\u00e9 en modo spot, pero eso es normal y asumible.<\/p>\n

En esta entrada he querido compartir con vosotros alguna de las fotos que hice pensando en esta entrada y espero poder asistir el a\u00f1o que viene a este incre\u00edble espect\u00e1culo, ya con el equipo m\u00e1s claro y por supuesto tambi\u00e9n con la experiencia de este a\u00f1o y es que siempre la experiencia es un grado.<\/p>\n

More difficult still<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

A few days ago he was held in Madrid one of the most amazing shows, I mean the Red Bull X-Fighters Madrid. Under an environment full of history, participants make incredible jumps and as the evidence unfolds, this is even harder.<\/span><\/p>\n

For various reasons, he never had the opportunity to attend either as a spectator or as a photographer, until just the same morning, I get a call to see if it is possible to perform a job for a known brand also sponsored the event.<\/span><\/p>\n

Suddenly everything changed my schedule for that could not miss the opportunity, but … I had to take?<\/span><\/p>\n

Obviously my Nikon D4, but I doubt arose if the optical and carry flash, tripod, etc. because everything would develop from 10 at night. Moreover temperatures accompanied not to go heavily loaded due to the heat wave happy mercury stood above 40 degrees.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the end I chose to forgive the photos of angular and took the 70-200mm. and 300mm. not knowing how far would need. I also loaded with a flash and a tripod SB900 carbon. Big mistake because I did not need any of them and if any charged by the 24-70mm. and 14-24mm. This is what is always the first time.<\/span><\/p>\n

Still, I focused my efforts in making the photos and even asked me for my book many more work as the images were repeated one after another.<\/span><\/p>\n

Before the show, I made many pictures for the paddock and the environment, in addition to the photos they had asked me. Honestly I suffered was because the minimum focal 70mm. but experience always helps and solutions can be found as if the mountain will not come to you as you go towards it but in this case was the opposite.<\/span><\/p>\n

Just at the time announced, the show began reminding the San Fermin Festival dates as agreed with the famous bull running.<\/span><\/p>\n

When they began the artists of the two wheels to give impossible jumps was when I thought about how difficult it would be that session because suddenly appeared and each time for a site by the famous stunts in the air but it all happened in seconds. I quickly picked up the \u00abvibes\u00bb and at least knew where I was going to leave the bike and its rider. I also noticed huge screens where you see live when and where was the pilot. From there everything was easier.<\/span><\/p>\n

I saw the first pictures, I came to several conclusions. The first is that neither the flash and tripod were helpful but rather the opposite.<\/span><\/p>\n

I also decided to change the 70-200mm. by 300mm. faster focusing and extreme clarity. That change made me suffer much because the track bike and rider sometimes left little air in the picture but the sharpness and so fast that approach did not admit doubt, had to do weights and burst shots.<\/span><\/p>\n

I finally felt good, but nothing in life is perfect and the company that had hired me, I asked that \u00abeven harder\u00bb because they needed the runner jumping and advertising background.<\/span><\/p>\n

Forcing a bit ISO to close diaphragm and continue with those speeds that allowed me to freeze the picture, I thought of performing these images requested, which burst with the system, not impossible. Just I had to put myself where they used to make one of the jumps with the brand logo placed among the public. Got proof thanks to the Nikon D4 and power of Nikkor 300mm. perhaps a hard combination to beat.<\/span><\/p>\n

Already in my study, looking at the pictures with the touch-up person (someday I’ll introduce @ l) the work had been well. Just it had to touch something white balance, which is normal for the whole show ran from lights and bulbs of different colors.<\/span><\/p>\n

Even some pockets of contrast, managed to fool the meter and that worked in spot mode, but that is normal and acceptable.<\/span><\/p>\n
