Eso es al menos lo que pensaba cuando este año acudía a las 24 horas de Le Mans, por fin iba a una carrera como espectador para disfrutar de todo lo que suelo perderme cuando voy a trabajar con el correspondiente pase de prensa.

Pero ya se sabe que la cabra tira al monte y aunque al principio mi idea era ir con tan solo una cámara de bolsillo, a última hora cargué una maleta con mis Nikon y algunos objetivos y es que a fin y al cabo llevaba un coche enorme en el que llevar parte del equipo no presentaba ningún problema. Eso si objetivos como el Nikkor 300mm. se quedó en casa pues al fin y al cabo no iba a trabajar o eso pensaba.

Comienza la carrera y desde una grada se disfruta de la emoción de una carrera tan importante pero sinceramente no es lo mismo que cuando estas a pié de pista sintiendo y disparando a todo lo que se mueve.

Aún así, tuve la suerte de estar justo enfrente del equipo en el que uno de los pilotos oficiales de Nissan que participaba en la categoría reina LMP1 con un Nissan GT-R LM Nismo, es amigo, Lucas Ordoñez y pude hacerle alguna foto con el Nikkor 70-200mm. más el TC-17E II, lo que equivale en el rango con más tele a un 340mm., eso si con algo menos de apertura de diafragma, algo que en esas fotos no importaba.

Continuando con la sinceridad, en un momento determinado me sentí incomodo, con la sensación que todas las imágenes que estaba viendo y disfrutando no las podría enseñar a los lectores que normalmente nos siguen en la revista 9republic.com, algo que también es cierto se puede cubrir perfectamente con las imágenes de otros compañeros y las típicas fotos que pone la organización a disposición de los medios.

No pude descartar alguna foto de esos detalles que de alguna manera ayudar ambientar y enmarcar el trabajo. En esta ocasión he elegido a uno de los comisarios con su discreto mono naranja y en el que se puede leer de una manera muy clara donde estamos.

Ya por la tarde no pude resistirme y me acerqué a la curva Porsche con la sana intención de ver la carrera pero también con mi Nikon D4 y el 70-200mm. Por fin me sentí en mi salsa y eso que para hacer fotos no era la mejor situación pero es lo que había. En esos momentos me arrepentí el no haber solicitado el pase de prensa pero también es cierto que hasta dos días antes no tenía previsto ir a esta mítica carrera. Aún así pude hacer unas fotos decentes para publicar en el blog.

No hace falta decir que ir a una carrera que gran parte es nocturna sin monopié es una temeridad. Aún así la Nikon D4 tiene la ventaja de poder trabajar a Isos inimaginables hace unos años. Vamos que hasta sin monopié se puede sacar alguna foto decente, si bien es cierto que hubiese preferido tener al menos un monopié o trípode y mi querido 300mm, ah!, y por supuesto mi pase de prensa.

Lo que si he sufrido tanto en esta ocasión como en otras anteriores es el balance de blancos en Auto y es que los coches ahora que unos utilizan distintas tecnologías como leds, xenon, etc. es casi imposible que el ajuste de blancos coincida con la realidad, pero tranquilos, que con el ViewNX 2 de Nikon, puedes arreglar ese problema de una tacada en todas los fotos.

Por lo demás, pues creo que tengo que aprender a disfrutar de los eventos en los que no voy a trabajar pero creo que no va a ser precisamente fácil.

Mis felicitaciones al equipo Porsche que consiguió hacer historia copando la primera y segunda plaza con los Porsche 919 Hybrid.
