El pasado día martes 9, tuve el honor de participar como fotógrafo en la presentación de la que posiblemente sea en la actualidad una de las mejores cámaras para estudio del mundo, me refiero a la Phase One XF 100 MP, una cámara que dotada de un respaldo digital de 100 megapixels y con una profundidad de campo de 16 bits.
El entorno de la presentación no podía ser mejor, los estudios Daylight de Madrid, un sitio perfecto y muy utilizado profesionales del mundo de la moda y la publicidad.
Además teníamos todo un “top model”, nada menos que uno de los mejores deportivos de la marca Ferrari, que lucía unos relucientes brillos tras pasar por el detallado de la firma ET Detail.
Con todo preparado, iniciamos la presentación y durante toda la mañana, sometimos a la Phase One XF 100 MP a todo tipo de pruebas como la sincronización a altas velocidades con los sistemas de flashes Profoto, luz continua, desenfoques, etc.
Todos quedamos muy satisfechos con los resultados de ésta cámara y eso que el reto en alguna de las fotos, era complicado con el Ferrari de color Rosso Corsa (rojo carrera), un color que a muchos sensores se le atraganta. Aun así la cámara dio la talla.
Quizás lo más interesante del sistema XF es que han desarrollado unos impresionantes objetivos, algunos con obturación central, capaces de sincronizar con los flashes Profoto hasta 1/1600s de velocidad y ópticas de plano focal, más ligeras y que pueden alcanzar hasta 1/4000s de obturación. Además estos objetivos, están optimizados para trabajar con un respaldo de tanta definición (100 Mp).
El «revelado», como suele ocurrir en todas las cámaras que ven la luz, solo se puede realizar con últimas versiones de Capture One. Seguro en que un plazo corto, además de el programa de la casa, también se podrá utilizar otros como el famoso Camera Raw de la casa Adobe.
En la sesión, pude comprobar en primera persona, la calidad de este sistema que cada día evoluciona hacia la excelencia. Lástima que el precio sea acorde con lo que ofrecen pues en estos momentos es difícil conseguir clientes dispuestos a pagar una imagen con esa calidad, pero estoy seguro que eso es cuestión de tiempo que el mercado vuelva a cambiar.
Me quedo con la idea que, si quieres lo mejor en estudio, ésta es la solución y en mi opinión, si el uso, va ha ser en trabajos esporádicos, la más sensato es alquilar el equipo e incluso el estudio. Por ejemplo Daylight Studios ofrece ese alquiler e incluso personal especializado en iluminación y otros campos. Todo un lujo a precios más asequibles e inteligentes que la inversión.
An honor
Last Tuesday in September, I had the honor of participating as a photographer in presenting what is possibly now one of the best cameras to study the world, I mean the Phase One XF 100 MP, a camera equipped with a 100 megapixel digital back and a depth of field of 16 bits.
The setting of the presentation could not be better, the Daylight studios in Madrid, a perfect place and widely used professional world of fashion and advertising.
We also had quite a «top model», no less than one of the best sports brand Ferrari, wearing a gleaming shine after going through the detailed signature Detail ET.
With everything ready, we began the presentation and throughout the morning, we submitted to the Phase One XF 100 MP to all kinds of tests such as high-speed synchronization systems Profoto Flashes, continuous light, blurs, etc.
All were very pleased with the results of this chamber and that the challenge in some of the photos, it was difficult with Ferrari Rosso Corsa color (red race), a color that many sensors is choking. The camera still wanting.
Perhaps most interesting is that the XF system have developed impressive goals, some with central shutter, capable of synchronizing with Profoto flashes up to 1 / 1600s speed and optical focal plane lighter and can reach up to 1 / 4000s in obturation. Besides these objectives are optimized to work with a backing such definition (100 Mw).
The «it revealed» as they occur in all cameras that see the light, can only be done with latest versions of Capture One. Sure that a short-term, as well as the program of the house, also can use others like famous Adobe Camera Raw the house.
At the sitting, I could see firsthand the quality of this system is evolving every day towards excellence. Too bad the price is in line with what they offer because at the moment it is difficult to get customers willing to pay a picture with the quality, but I’m sure that’s a matter of time before the market turns around again.
I prefer the idea that if you want the best in the study, this is the solution and in my opinion, if the use has to be going on odd jobs, the more sense to rent equipment and even the study. For example the rental Daylight Studios offers and even personnel specialized in lighting and other fields. A luxury at more affordable and intelligent investment prices.
